1980 - Culver City Historical Society is incorporated
1983 - Iri City (now Iksan City), Korea becomes a Sister City
1984 - Summer Olympics (XXIII Olympiad) are held in Los Angeles (two miles of the Men’s and first Women’s Marathons are in Culver City)
1985 - Filmland building is built to accommodate productions offices
1986 -
• Lorimar Studios purchases MGM’s studio lot
• Gannett Co.,Inc. purchases Laird International Studios and renames it The Culver Studios
1987 - MGM moves into the Filmland building
1989 - Lethbridge, Canada becomes a Sister City
