Pathe Studios merges with RKO and the studio is renamed
RKO-Pathe Studios
Helms Bakery is constructed and occupied by 1932; today
a designated city landmark
1932 - Olympics (Xth Olympiad)
is held in Los Angeles; Helms Bakery supplies bread
1934 - City Yard at Jefferson
and Duquesne is purchased for $4,000
1935 -
Ballona Creek is concreted by Army Corps of Engineering
David O. Selznick joins RKO-Pathe and the studio is
renamed Selznick International
1936 - City adopts
the motto, "The Heart of Screenland"
1938 - The "Little
People" come to Culver City to film the WIZARD OF OZ
and stay in the Culver and Adams hotels
